Speakers Bureau

Representatives of the Camp Douglas Restoration Foundation provide original presentations to social, historic and community groups on subjects relating to Camp Douglas and Chicago during the Civil War. Other Civil War subjects of interest are also available. See individual information for details or contact the speaker to discuss special needs

These presentations are provided at no cost to the organization. Honorariums to the speaker and contributions to CDRF are encouraged.

Presentations are designed to be presented in approximately one hour. Length can be modified based on the needs of the organization.

Equipment needed: Projector for PowerPoint® presentation. The speaker will provide a computer or thumb drive. An 8 foot table desired for display of information relating to the presentation.

The following individuals are currently registered with the Speakers Bureau.

Michael M. Gregory, Ph.D. Director of CDRF. Michael has managed archaeological excavations on the site of Camp Douglas since 2013. Dr. Gregory’s presentations emphasize archaeological excavations on the site of Camp Douglas and in the Bronzeville area of Chicago. He can also present general archaeological topics. Dan Joyce, PhD. Director of CDRF is the Director Emeritus of the Kenosha Museum Campus and Research Archaeologist at the University of Wisconsin Parkside. Dr. Joyce has broad experience in archaeology, museum management, and the Civil War in the Upper Midwest. For more detailed information click here.

Theodore J. Karamanski, PhD. Director of CDRF is Professor of History at Loyola University of Chicago where is also the Director of the Public History Program. Dr. Karamanski has special interest and expertise in Chicago and the Civil War and other regional and Civil War topics. For more detailed information click here.

Bernard Turner, Director of CDRF is a leading expert on the history of the Bronzeville community of Chicago. His presentations look, in depth, at the community history and future. Bernard also conducts walking and bus tours of Bronzeville. For more detailed information click here.
